Blackpool have strengthened their defensive options by signing Finley Munroe from Middlesbrough on a season-long loan.
The 21-year-old is capable of operating both at left-back and in central defence, giving Blackpool manager Ian Evatt additional versatility at the back ahead of the new campaign.
Munroe joined Middlesbrough in January after spending the opening half of the season on loan at League Two club Swindon Town.
During his time at Swindon, the defender made 23 appearances under manager Ian Holloway and contributed two goals.
His move to Bloomfield Road makes him Blackpool’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window, as the Seasiders continue to build their squad for the season ahead.
Munroe Excited by Blackpool Opportunity
Munroe revealed that conversations with Blackpool boss Ian Evatt played an important role in his decision to join the club.
The young defender said Evatt’s footballing philosophy and ambitions for the upcoming season were major attractions.
Speaking to Blackpool’s official website, Munroe explained that he had held several positive discussions with the manager and was impressed by the style of football Evatt wants the team to play.
The defender will now look to use his season at Blackpool to gain valuable first-team experience while helping the club achieve its objectives.

Blackpool Add Defensive Depth
Munroe’s ability to cover more than one defensive position could prove particularly useful for Blackpool throughout the season.
His experience of senior football at Swindon, combined with his development at Middlesbrough, gives Evatt another young option capable of contributing in different roles.
After making 23 appearances and scoring twice during his previous loan spell, Munroe will now have another opportunity to establish himself at a higher level and continue his development with the Seasiders.
