Paris Saint-Germain continued their impressive run of form with a comeback victory over Strasbourg, recording their sixth consecutive win across all competitions. The result also lifted Luis Enrique’s side to the top of the Ligue 1 table, although their position remained subject to the weekend results of their rivals.
Following their 4-2 Champions League victory against Manchester City, Enrique made eight changes to his starting line-up for the trip to Strasbourg. However, the heavily rotated PSG side initially struggled and fell behind when Giovanni Reyna’s deflected attempt found its way into the net.
PSG Turn the Game Around After Half-Time
With his team trailing, Enrique introduced five key players during the second half in an effort to change the course of the match. The substitutions helped PSG increase their attacking threat and eventually take control of the contest.
Ousmane Dembele played a decisive role in the comeback, delivering a cross that allowed Illia Zabarnyi to score the equaliser. Dembele then had an opportunity to put PSG ahead from the penalty spot, but the Ballon d’Or winner sent his effort wide.
The French forward recovered from that disappointment to make a crucial contribution late in the game. With just five minutes remaining, Dembele fired a low, powerful shot from 16 yards to give PSG the lead.
Desire Doue subsequently secured the victory in stoppage time, finishing after receiving a pass from Ferran Torres to complete PSG’s three-goal comeback response.
PSG Rise to the Top of Ligue 1
The victory represents another positive result for PSG, who have now won six matches in succession across all competitions. Their ability to recover after falling behind also demonstrated the impact of Enrique’s second-half changes.
PSG’s league campaign had begun less convincingly, with the club sitting 13th in Ligue 1 after their first three matches. This latest success has taken them to the top of the standings ahead of their rivals’ weekend fixtures.
The performance underlined the depth available to Enrique, as his substitutes helped transform a difficult away match into an important three points.
