The 10th edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup is set to take place in Brazil from 24 June to 25 July 2027, bringing the world’s leading women’s national teams together for one of football’s biggest international tournaments.

Brazil will host the competition across eight stadiums, all of which were previously used during the men’s 2014 World Cup.

The 2027 tournament will be the second and final Women’s World Cup featuring 32 teams. From the 2031 edition onwards, the competition is scheduled to expand to 48 nations.

Brazil have already secured their place automatically as the host nation, while Spain enter the tournament as reigning world champions after defeating England in the 2023 final to claim their first Women’s World Cup title.

How European World Cup Qualifying Works

The first stage of European qualification was held between March and June 2026.

A total of 53 European nations were divided into three leagues based on the 2025 UEFA Women’s Nations League structure. Leagues A and B contained 16 teams each, while League C featured 21 nations.

The four group winners in League A secured automatic qualification for the 2027 World Cup. Those teams were Denmark, France, Spain and Germany.

The remaining League A nations moved into the European play-offs, including England and the Republic of Ireland.

Qualification places in the play-offs were also awarded to the top three teams from each League B group, all six League C group winners and the two best-performing League C runners-up.

The qualifying competition also determined promotion and relegation positions for the next UEFA Women’s Nations League campaign.

World Cup Qualification Places by Confederation

The 32-team tournament will feature nations from six continental confederations, along with teams progressing through the inter-confederation play-off competition.

The allocation is:

  • Europe: 11 places
  • Asia: 6 places
  • Africa: 4 places
  • North America, Central America and the Caribbean: 4 places
  • South America: 3 places
  • Oceania: 1 place
  • Inter-confederation play-offs: 3 places

Ten nations will compete in the inter-confederation play-offs for the remaining three World Cup positions. Uzbekistan, Chinese Taipei, Ghana, South Africa, Venezuela, Ecuador and Papua New Guinea are among the teams currently guaranteed a place in that tournament.
